Varicosity is increasingly diagnosed in young people
As practice and statistics show, "elderly" illnesses are getting younger every year. Everything that used to be a disease of the elderly, now affects the younger generation, not even in 40-50 years, but at 20-30. As the statistics show, about 40% of the able-bodied population at the age of 30 suffer from varicose veins. There is one peculiarity - in Europe and North America, varicose affects one in 10 men or one in every three women, while in Africa and Central Asia the indicators do not exceed 1%. This "youthful" illness will be discussed in this article.
Varicose veins (varicose veins) - pathological lesions of peripheral veins, accompanied by thinning of the walls of the vessels, an increase in the diameter of the vein, the formation of extensions according to the type of aneurysm. Aneurysm - protrusion of the walls veins, due to stretching and/or weakening.
Varicose veins types and forms
Varicosis itself is rarely an independent disease, however, it was divided into forms (variants) for diagnosis and treatment:
a). Extension of the veins of the lower extremities (femoral vein, popliteal, ankle joint veins).
b). Varicose veins (varicosity) of the pelvis:
- Vein enlargement of the walls of the uterus (varicose veins);
- Esophageal esophagus dilatation;
- Extension of rectum veins (hemorrhoids);
- Vein cord extension (varicocele, also varicose on testicles).
Reasons for the occurrence
The etiology (causes) of varicose veins is identical to any other diseases: being in a risk group based on heredity, sedentary lifestyle and, as a consequence, an increase in blood pressure in the veins, a gender component (in women, as a result of pregnancy and hormones, in 9 out of 10 cases of pelvic vein disease are observed.)
A separate cause of varicose veins of the esophagus is the plague of our century - cirrhosis and hepatitis C.
Direct causes of rectal varicose are still unknown, but doctors believe that the main provocation factor is the stagnation of blood in the small pelvis.
Pathogenesis (mechanism) of the appearance of varicose veins. The human circulatory system, in essence - the pump, the pump, the heart - the motor of the mechanism. For stable and proper functioning, conditions are necessary in which blood flows from the motor and back do not intersect, for which, in fact, there are valves in the veins. When the etiological factors (at least one of them) come to the forefront - we, visually observe the symptoms directly - varicose dilatation. Considering that the circulatory system is not one artery and one vein, if an insignificant area is damaged, the rest, undamaged sections of the vein take the load on itself. And this means that the very beginning of the disease is practically asymptomatic: well, who today pays attention to buzzing or swelling legs in the evening, fatigue and lethargy? At the present pace of life, similar symptoms are observed even in schoolchildren in the lower grades, what can we already say about an adult person? After a frenzied work day, hikes, or rather, "runaways" in shops with small (5-10 kilogram) gain: swollen and buzzing legs - this is the least that can "hurt."
Attention, as a rule, attracts the symptoms of an already progressive disease: a change in pigmentation, a visually visible swelling of the veins, itching, stronger and slower edema, convulsions. The list can be continued for a long time, however, as a result, it will be similar to the horror film script, it is important to remember that complications of varicose veins lead to thrombophlebitis, varicose veins ruptures, and, consequently, to bleeding, stagnation of venous blood can lead to trophic ulcers. In order to avoid the most unpleasant and fatal consequences, it is necessary to be attentive to yourself and to know that varicose veins start quietly and imperceptibly, but confidently passing through all their stages lead to a deplorable result:
1 - no complaints, rare cosmetic defects.
2 - nocturnal cramps, condition of "leaden legs", raspiranie, paresthesia (sensation of "goose bumps" and/or "needles" in the skin).
3 - to the already existing symptoms, the induction (condensation) of the skin and fiber, the discoloration, is attached.
4 - ulcers.
Diagnosis of varicose veins
The first stage - the collection of anamnesis, visual inspection, if necessary - functional study. It is carried out by several methods. Its essence consists in "provocation" of a separate site of a vein on display of disturbance of a blood flow. Each of these methods carries the name of the doctor (s) who developed it.
Trianelenburg's Troyanova trial: the patient, while lying down, raises his leg to ensure a complete outflow of blood, then the vein is squashed, the patient rises, after the surgeon sharply releases his hand at the pressure site. If the reverse "wave" is visually observed, it is a symptom of a valve failure.
Gackenbruch test: in an upright position, varicose veins are slightly pressed and the patient should cough. If the blood "pushes" - it's also a symptom of a valve failure.
Pratt's test 2: the patient in a horizontal position raises his leg at an angle, for maximum outflow of blood. Then, in a certain order, elastic bandages (the first layer above the second one) are placed on the foot. Between the bandages leave the visualization zone. The patient abruptly rises, after which the first (upper) bandage is rewound below the second, leaving the visualization zone. Thus, in place of the first (upper) bandage, if the valve is broken, immediately visible enlarged veins.
Sheinis test (three-knot): it is similar to the Pratt sample, but with three bandages and the problem localization zone is determined by palpation.
Delbe Pertesa's test: the patient, in a vertical position, is put on a tourniquet and offered to walk with him about half an hour. If the patency of the deep veins is adequate, varicose nodules decrease or fall off altogether.
However, the functional diagnosis of deep veins, unfortunately, gives great errors, regardless of the experience and professionalism of the surgeon, therefore, hardware diagnostics methods are assigned in parallel.
Phlebography (on photo) - X-ray of the circulatory system and/or its site with the introduction of contrast markers.
Doppler ultrasound. The Doppler effect is a change in the movement of blood cells caused by a sound signal.
As a rule, treatment is carried out in two directions: conservative and/or surgical.
Conservative involves, for the most part, prophylactic devices: wearing compression linen, elastic bandaging of affected areas, or areas at risk (femoral, popliteal veins). Pregnant women and people whose work is associated with increased physical exertion or long stagnation of blood in the small pelvis (loaders, drivers, sedentary work) - phlebologists are advised not to wait for the first symptoms and wear compression clothes constantly.
Sclerotherapy is considered a separate method of treating varicose veins, but modern medicine uses this method less and less often, and often refuses it altogether because of the low effectiveness of treatment, but a high percentage of the probability of relapse. The essence of the method is to "glue" the damaged portion of the vessel with a special preparation, after which the drug dissolves in the blood and leaves when the body is emptied naturally. Sclerotherapy is advisable to use in varicose veins in children, as one of the alternatives to surgical intervention. But, as was said above - the method is rather inefficient.
Drug treatment of varicose veins is also part of a conservative treatment. In the "help" compression linen, prescribe drugs based on the extracts of horse chestnut, as well as preparations with a high content of vitamin C, components of salicylic acids, diuretics. For example:
hepatrombin, heparil gel: they contain heparin sodium, which is an anticoagulant of direct action, anti-inflammatory, decongestant.
Ascorutical forte - basic preparations - ascorbic acid, calcium carbonate
troxerutin is a venotonic, a derivative of the drug from routine.
Venitant, a vein, a herbion of an Eskulia (Venotonicum, with an extract of fruits or horse chestnut seeds, the content of the extract is compared with the contents of an escin), etc.
As for the surgical method of treatment, here each case is discussed individually with the doctor. Depending on the stage of the disease, localization, concomitant diseases, gender and age indices, the surgeon decides either to "repair" the valve itself, or to excise the site of the vein, for example, treatment of varicose veins with a laser. But still in the early stages you can cure varicose veins without surgery.
Prevention of varicose veins
From all of the above, it is not difficult to isolate what you do not need to do to avoid varicose veins, not only on the legs and not only in women. Methods of preventing varicose veins are what every person does every day:
Watch the weight. Excess weight is an additional burden not only on the heart, but also on the whole circulatory system, because it increases pressure on the walls of the vessels.
Contrast shower - every day, taking a shower, especially in the evenings, especially in the hot season, give the feet a separate 10 minutes.
Change your shoes. At the slightest discomfort from shoes - give it up in favor of something more convenient and practical. The council concerns not only the lovely ladies who "flutter" 24 hours a day on 10 cm hairpins, men also often sin by wearing uncomfortable model shoes.
Gymnastics for the feet. Do not allow blood stagnation in the legs and small pelvis. If your job is connected with constant sitting - try at least once an hour to change the position of the body, get up, walk around the office, stop the car, get out of the steering wheel, walk along the car (at the same time check if the wheel has not lowered). If possible - change shoes, if not - remove the shoes/boots for a few minutes and stretch your feet.
If the primary symptoms are present, avoid sports associated with a sudden pressure drop, as well as procedures with a sharp differential pressure (sauna, sauna). It's better just swim in the pool.
Separate advice to women - to consult a gynecologist about changing contraceptives. Hormones that enter the blood for their immediate task do not have a very good effect on the walls of the vessels.
Wear compression underwear. The article has repeatedly been mentioned about him. But now we will dwell in more detail.
So, compression underwear, socks, stockings, boots, ankles are all the same, with a difference in where to wear and under what circumstances. This kind of hosiery was developed in order to maintain physiologically correct pressure in the lower limbs. The pressure that the linen exerts on the veins helps to redistribute or normalize it (pressure) in the weakened areas. Appoint wearing of such linen not only in cosmetic, but also for medicinal purposes. For example: compression tights provide pressure in the lower part of the leg by 100%, and in the upper part of the thigh by 40-45%, which is physiologically correct. The same effect is achieved by wearing compression stockings or boots, as they are called because of the shape (they are dressed above the knee, on the half of the thigh). Stockings/boots are worn in cases where it is necessary to support only the veins of the lower extremities. If the compression needs a small pelvis area - wear tights. If the treatment area is below the knee - golfs, socks, ankles, boots from varicose veins. Since underwear is part of the treatment, then the choice of such a drug should be appropriate, respectively. Do not think that buying counterfeit linen products is not as bad as buying a fake aspirin, so - consult and again consult with specialists.
Traditional medicine (tips, recipes)
Varicosis is an ancient disease, it tortured even the contemporaries of Asclepius, Avicenna and Paracelsus, who, by the way, tried to persevere with it. But since these scientists surgically interfered with the body already during the embalming process - the methods of treating varicose remained open, except for one - hirudotherapy or bdellotherapy.
The difference in the name is due to the translation from Latin and Greek: leech - hirud/bdell, respectively. The aim of the method is with the help of leech saliva, more precisely saliva enzymes, deliver diluting substances to the blood without resorting to a scalpel, which in turn will lower blood pressure on the walls of weakened vessels. Separately, hirudotherapy is very effective in varicose veins of the rectum (hemorrhoids). Agree, the disease is not enough, which in itself is not pleasant, so also in a rather scrupulous place. Leeches in this case is an excellent alternative to surgery. We will consider it not superfluous to recall - the difference between a medicine and a poison only in a dose, so, without the control and consultation of a doctor, one should not engage in self-medication. It is important to remember that leeches are not put "where it hurts", leeches are placed only in certain places, for example: in no case do not put the hirud on the veins, and even more so the stricken ones. All these nuances should be known to a qualified phlebologist, who has passed the certification on hirudotherapy. If there is a possibility of independent intake of leeches, the doctor should consult you about the process itself, as well as control the purchase of medical leeches, and not the local Duremar. If the threshold of your fastidiousness does not allow you to undergo a hirudotherapy, and she will have an alternative - treatment of varicose at home, that is, herbs, infusions, decoctions, lotions. Unlike drug treatment, they can also help when the patient develops varicose veins during pregnancy.
Рецепты. Garlic and Butter. Garlic only with white husks, butter. Calculation 1: 2. Prepare the gruel from the chopped garlic and butter, apply to the veins. Time of reception - within 8-10 hours (night). Compress apply with parchment, and then strengthen and insulate. In the morning remove the compress, wash off the leftovers, warm your feet.
Tomatoes are green. The recipe is seasonal, but effective: to places where the venous nodules are already visible, apply thinly sliced slices of unripe tomato. Leave it overnight. Course - a total of 5-6 months.
Sour milk and wormwood. The ratio is arbitrary, as a result, you should get a gruel for compress, which is an excellent ointment from varicose veins. Not superfluous, to these compresses will be added a dessert of apples sort Antonovka: three apples pour a liter of boiling water and leave for 3 hours. After apples turn into a puree and use 2 tablespoons. L twice a day. Course: 5 days once a month.
Hops (cones). Prepare according to the recipe on the package. For ingestion - the broth to be made weaker, for compresses - the volume of cones can be taken more. Take: Inside for 150-200 grams for half an hour before meals, compresses - at night, fix, warm.
Kalanchoe. Leaves from the calculation - a filled half-liter can - rinse, transfer to a larger can (1 liter). Pour alcohol (70%), insist two weeks in the dark, shake every day. Take as rubbing for the feet.
Potatoes. The quantity is arbitrary, the main thing is that the potatoes are not with wormholes or a lobster. Clean, three, of puree - compress.
Horse chestnut (flowers). 50gr of flowers, 0.5 liters of alcohol, insist for two weeks, shaking every day. After filter. Reception: 1 tbsp. 3 times a day, before meals. The course of the week of admission, two breaks.
Apple cider vinegar from varicose veins. Just get in the habit of regularly rubbing varicose-affected areas with ordinary apple cider vinegar.
